The nearest grocery is a Safeway. It’s not my favorite, and it’s by no means in a “bad neighborhood” but it does get a bit, eh, exciting at night. There’s another in a much more sketch part of town and everyone knows that location as the “Unsafeway” and to keep them apart, I’ve taken to calling this one the “slightly-less-than-safeway.”

I digress. When looking for a basket on my way in, I noticed this:

Kinja'd!!!

Can’t imagine someone was having a very good evening without a driveshaft.

That doesn’t look automotive, but likely a part from a piece of equipment.

Eh, there fine, just no 4WD. I had a buddy who only had the front driveshaft in his truck because he bought it that way. A front wheel drive 1/2 ton Chevy. I think he had stickers made up for it. He was too cheap to go but a driveshaft from the junkyard.

It needs a vest and paperwork then.

Even more questions, then, as to how it arrived at that spot

What if this is your buddy’s front driveshaft? and he’s now coasting down a hill trying to get home?

Could also be the front driveshaft from a 4X 4 truck. Someone’ s bro truck might only be 2WD right now.

You could be right. Caps look too big in proportion to the span for automotive.

Doubt it, the construction makes me think it’s a low speed and run in a “clean” environment. More likely a forklift or a pump than a truck.

Grocery stores are great at night, the amount of entertainment you get while shopping can’t be beat.

We had a particularly nasty Safeway nearby. It was last remodeled in 1988, everything on the shelves was expired, and the staff were like the walking dead. But then they merged with Albertsons, and they remodeled the Albertsons that was five blocks away and converted it to a Safeway instead, then they closed the nasty Safeway. Plus, the new one doesn’t have the nasty fishy smell that all the Albertsons had.

I guess that’s moot , because my partner now works for one of their competitors.

It was on Mexico and Buckley, actually.  Now it's a Planet Fitness.
